Targeted Instruction Generating Excitement about Research and Science Program
Description: The German lab has teamed up with the high school biology faculty (Rebecca Bonet, Linda Crossno and Leina Rizzo) at Valencia High School (VHS) to develop biology based demonstrations and experiments for high school students.  My role is to lead some of the demonstrations, assist in setting up the experiments for the students and also answer questions about our demonstration, biology, university life, and academic careers.   We present demonstrations which include topics about cell size, respiration, evolution, fish buoyancy, nutrition, and animal physiology.  Photo: VHS students visiting UC Irvine to learn about our research in digestive physiology.
